I would be remiss

Remiss를 careless, negligent라는 낱말 뜻으로만 알면 이 문장을 어떻게 번역해야 할지 난감하다. 

그런데 I would be remiss if....는 부드럽게 말하는 예의 바른 표현이다. 

I would be remiss if I didn't mention that there are a lot of natural resources and opportunities in Africa.

아프리카에 천연자원과 기회가 아주 많다는 얘기를 빼 놓으면 안 되겠네요. (같은 얘기를 영작하라고 하면 아마 I should mention that .....으로 밖에 못할 듯하다.)

I would be remiss not to mention that Jane was formerly a staff member at the IFRS Foundation.

제인이 IFRS 재단 직원이었다는 얘기를 꼭 말씀드려야 겠습니다.
